Llamado urgente por Palestina: la obligación a la acción por parte de las y los pediatras
Resumen
Como proveedores de servicios pediátricos, nos une la dedicación compartida a la salud, el bienestar y la felicidad de las y los niños. Se nos ha confiado el cuidado de los que no tienen voz, un compromiso que trasciende razas, religiones y fronteras. La comunidad pediátrica lleva mucho tiempo a la vanguardia de la protección de las infancias frente a sus agresores. En tan sólo seis semanas (y contando) más de 12,000 niños palestinos han muerto de formas reprobables.1 No por enfermedad o hambruna, sino como resultado del castigo colectivo del Estado etnosegregacionista israelí tras el ataque de Hamás.
La propia prensa israelí ha informado de casos de colonos israelíes de extrema derecha que celebran el asesinato de la niñez palestina.2-4 En el momento de escribir este artículo todos los días decenas de niñas y niños experimentan desasosiego, mutilación y muerte, sus restos quedan atrapados bajo escombros, por lo que nunca recibirán ni la dignidad de un entierro.5 Mientras tanto, la angustia persiste para los familiares sobrevivientes de estas y estos niños asesinados en su suelo natal6 mientras prosigue la embestida de las campañas de bombardeos rasantes durante el genocidio en curso.7
