¿Qué tan amigable es la solicitud de empleo en hospitales del estado de Nueva York para individuos con antecedentes penales?

Resumen

Aunque la discriminación por antecedentes penales es ilegal en Nueva York, muchos empleadores aún filtran a quienes buscan trabajo con base en sus posibles sentencias previas. Realizamos un estudio en los hospitales estatales para analizar el uso de historiales judiciales en la evaluación de aplicaciones en línea para empleo. Dos tercios de estos procedimientos incluyeron preguntas respecto a sentencias previas, esta práctica, que fue más común en medios suburbanos y rurales, puede privar a los ex-convictos y a sus comunidades de los múltiples beneficios de un empleo.
